I do agree with what you said that we need to go back to the old America. I think we take to many things for granted today, and never realizing that were just hurting ourselves in the end. If continue down this place then will just kill our economy and the environment. We need to start changing now for the future so that people then will be stable and have a better chance of not falling back into cheating everyone and ourselves. Americans and everybody else’s need to take a stand against big business because that the only way to make everybody and everything equal. I think it only takes time but if we do work together things will start to change. Americans have are one problem they are not patience , also they only want more and more. Big business as to much of a hold one us and we all need to snap out of it. We all need to come together and help each other.

I toatly 100% agree with the electric car. I understand why the big oil bussinesses where against this because they would lose money. That is not right at all. We need new things to try and save the enviroment and to at least
save us some money at the same time. So my stand point on the electric car is yes of course a win win situation in my book. From the saveing enviroment to the saveing the money in the hard working americans in this country pockets.
On walmarts policy i think it is ridicoulus how they can get away with the things people and familys can go though from the greed of the this coorpartion
and its doings i am totaly agasit wal mart and everything its about no arugment.

I completley agree with the electric car. There is agreeable arguments on why the United States didnt want it. The main agreeable con for the electric car was oil but thats it. Its only because they dont want to los money. But if you think about it arent they losing money from the lose of peoples lives from the pollution that fuel in cars are bringing? It’s ridiculous. If they dont think of something soon all their money isnt going to matter anymore because we’re not going to be here because of them. And another thing the United States is in a war for “oil” right? Well if they started using the electric car wouldnt that end all of that? Well not all wars but the main one. Its just that they do not care exactly what you said Ms.Garrity! All this secret things that the United States does behind our back has to stop or else it is going to kill us. We would lose a couple of dollars in the United States pocket but it would be completley worth it in the end. I say bring back the electric car and give it a chance because were going to have to do something smart really soon.
I think that Wal-Marts policy is ridiculous. Alls their about too is money. I completley agree with Lucarini its all greed. They want to out beat all the other stores so people will go to Wal-Mart more, thats fine, but with the way their doing it is horrible. They shouldnt be putting familys threw that to save us a couple dollars because im sure their employers are Wal-mart shoppers too. Shouldnt they be smiling too? Im sure that after people see that documentary Wal-Mart will be close to out of business!

I agree with some of my classmates opinions. The electric car never should have been taken away. This car would have improved the way every American lived in the United States. It was a much healthier and cheaper way of living. The people who took the car away had no logical reason to do that. There is so much problems these days with oil that could have been resolved if we still had the electric car available to us. Hopefully one day we will be able to get these cars back.
About Wal-Marts policy, I feel that it is a disgrace. Wal-Mart is only in it for the money. They do not care about their workers or costumers. All they care about is their selves. So; their prices are lower then most stores, but the costumers end up paying more in the long run due to taxes. I feel bad Wal-Marts workers and their families. It is a shame that these workers need to rely on a type of business like Wal-Mart just to support their families. I wish there was another way to do that.

The electric car would have changed the way we would be living today. But the fact of the matter is that it would have brang oil companies to an all time low. That reason plays a big part in why they no longer made them available to the American people. It’s a shame that people would rather be breathing in positions then to have a new safe way to get from point A to point B. The electric car would have saved us so much money and maybe the economy would not be in such turmoil. There would no longer be such a thing as going to the “gas station” and spending between two to three dollars a gallon. I agree with my classmates 100% and I feel as if most of America would too.
On the subject of Wal-Mart and the effects that it is having in our country, it is absolutely unfair. There is no reason why their employees should be underpaid. Wal-Mart adversities their company as “always low prices” but did any of the Wal-Mart shoppers ever stop to think of how they make their prices extremely low to the point that their success is damaging family owners all over America? People around the world need to stop and think about this. It’s heartbreaking to know that the employees can’t do anything about it. They work nonstop hours and don’t get any benefits what type of business is that.

I agree with most of the other student about the electric car. We need to try and save our environment not try to make it worse. The big oil companies only care about making them self better and making more money instead of the environment. If the electric car was still around today everything would be so different. Everyone would be driving them and the environment would be better. The oil companies i think would still be making money off of cars because they did not make and electric truck yet and a lot of companies and big factories use them and trucks only run off gas. So i think the oil companies were just being selfish. If the electric car was still around today people would have so much more money and the economy would not be so bad as it is right now. So i think the whole kill the electric car theory was a big mistake.
After we watched the Wal-Mart movie it changed my whole view on Wl-Mart. I never knew how they treaded their employes. If they did not have their workers to run the stores for them they would have nothing so i think they should be paying them more not less. I think that is crazy how they change some of their employes schedule’s just so they wont be considered working there full-time . I wish something would happen so the Wal-Marts would have to shut down . After watching that movie made me realize all of the low prices are not worth all of the problems and very poor income of the staff at Wal-Mart
on January 8th, 2009 at 4:42 pm
About the Wal-Mart policy, I think that Wal-Mart is just in it for the money and doesn’t really care about there employees. The provide benefits but they are barely enough for them to get what they need and what they are promised. I think if Wal-Mart gave one-third of the money they are keeping for them selves to there employees it would be a dramatic change and employees would be more satisfied and actually wanting to work there. Wal-Mart is a scam and I think that people need to know about it.
I disagree with the government ending the Electric car. I think that if the electric car was still around today it would make things in our country better and easier. The air wouldn’t be as polluted and it is less expensive then a regular car that runs on gas. Oil companies would disagree with the idea of the electric car because they would loose money. There is so much problems these days with oil that could have been resolved if we still had the electric car available to us.

I agree that there should be an electric car. Having electric cars would help save our environment and also save people a lot of money. Big oil companies are only against the electric car because it will cost them a lot of money and eventually take them out of business. We shouldn’t let those companies effect if we have electric cars or not because it should be about the environment and not money. If the electric car was still around today, I think it would be helpful to many people and the economy.
I think Wal-Marts policy is ridiculous and after watching the video I will never shop there again. Not only do they harm the environment, but they also treat their employee’s horrible. They under pay all their workers and also give them no benefits, which is bad for the country because then they have to pay for them. Wal-Mart is probably one of the richest companies in the world, and they want to keep the money for themselves instead of taking care of their workers. I think all Wal-Marts should be shut down, because they are hurting small business owners who actually pay their employees a fair wage.

I completley agree with the electric car. There is agreeable arguments on why the United States didnt want it. The main agreeable con for the electric car was oil but thats it. Its only because they dont want to los money.an i totally agree on how they feel about that but i think made this world needs to change and buld new things i pretty sure most people couldnt aford the car anyway because of the price but not all people would be oil free so i think they should of took more intrence in keeping the electric car.the only effect it probbally would have is that too many young drivers would total it and others becuse of how fast the electric car can goo.
wow i never even new all about waltmart untill i watched the documenturey on how fack they are now that ive seen everything they have done and told inacent people all lies i just think that is soo wronge .

I agree that the electric car should be brought back and used more often. I think that it will help our environment, and our society in many ways. One way would be that it would save everyone allot of money because they won’t be spending all that money on gas. Also another plus would be that there would be less pollution coming out of our cars and going into our environment. Big time oil companies don’t like the idea of having the electric car around because it would cost them allot of money because less and less people would keep using oil, and gasoline. They believe that once people start realizing that they would save so much money that everyone will eventually go to the electric car.
I don’t like the Wal-Mart activity at all. I think that what they are doing is wrong and should be stopped. I don’t understand how they can put anyone’s family through all that pain and suffering of long hours and late nights.
on January 11th, 2009 at 7:57 pm
I agree and disagree with some of the classmates. I think it was a bad idea to get rid of the electric car because it would be better for the environment. The burning of the fuel causes pollution. However if the electric car is not available for people to purchase of the high prices then people would likely not buy them and if there isn’t away to get more mileage per charge. This could be a major reason why people would not want to purchase the car. So I feel if they could find away to make it more reasonable in price and better mileage people would buy the car. It would be a benefit to our environment.
I think it is wrong that Wal-Mart only cares about themselves and no one else. I don’t think it right that Wal-Mart is putting out other stores because of there low prices.

I think that the Electric car should have never been taken away. At first it may have taken a long time to get the people’s minds on the right track to buy that vehicle, but after awhile i think everyone would have wanted that car. People for the most part don’t like change, but after seeing through others the great qualities about the electric car, I am sure that they would have bought it. It was great for the enviroment, and saved everyone money in the long run. There were so many great things about it, that it could have been one big step in making our enviroment better. It was wrong from them to take it off the market.
I never knew anything about how walmart treated its employees and about all the lies they spread until i watched the documentary. It really opened my eyes to everything walmart says they are good for, but are really just lying about it all. Since I watched the documentary on it, I have not purchased anything from there.

I agree with you and the students about everything that was said. Could you imagine how better the environment would be if there were less Wal-Marts in the world or more electric cars. Wal-Mart not only put other competitive businesses out of business but put Wal Mart has put a local family business out of business out of business. The way Wal-Mart treats their customers and employers is just unfair and in my opinion sickening. I am proud to say that ever since learning about Wal-Mart and everything bad about it I have not been any where close to a Wal-Mart and I hope more people will do the same.
As for the electric car, I don’t think I have ever seen anything more convienient then the electric car. From what I saw, it looked liked that car produced a much lesser risk of a car accident. It may not go as fast as some cars but in my opinion, I think I’d rather go with a safe convienient car that you can just plug in to charge instead of a car running on gasoline that goes faster than a speeding bullet but that’s just me.

I agree that there should be an electric car today. I dont know what the goverment was thinking when they went against it. The electric car would be a big money saver for people and also better for the earth. The electric car would hurt the gasoline companies so bad that there wouldnt be a lot of gas stations n possibly go out of business if every one used electric cars.
I didnt know anything about how bad Wal-Mart was until I watched the video. But if you think about it, when a owner making a lot of money off a company why should he care about people who work under him. As long as the owners of Wal-Mart keep making there money they can care less of what it takes to keep there store up and running. It is so unfair to the workers of there pay and the rules and regulationgs of wal-mart.

I think the electric car was a great idea towards helping make the earth a cleaner place and it should have never been eliminated. I’m sure that if the electric car was around today, alot of people would choose to drive it over regular cars because now more than ever, people are wondering what they can do to save the enviroment. I think regular cars would become a thing of the past and everyone would soon switch to electric cars. With electric cars, gas money would not be a concern anymore and people would not feel limited to where they can travel because of the fear of high gas prices. The oil companies were against the electric car for the obvious reason that they would lose money and eventually go out of buisness, they were only thinking of themselves when really, we all need to start thinking of eachother and the future of our planet. The electric car would play such a big part in making our earth a cleaner place to live. Not only would it be a money saver, but also a life saver.
The Wal Mart video really came as a shock to me. I had no idea about the horrible things that go on just so we can buy good products for low prices. I used to buy things from Wal Mart and never think about where it came from. Watching the video really opened up my eyes. I no longer shop at Wal Mart becuase I’m disgusted by it. After watching the video, I told alot of people about it and they were just as surprised as I was. When I talked about the video with other people who saw it, we all agreed that we no longer wanted anything to do with Wal Mart. The horrible treatment of the employees of Wal Mart and the workers in other countries made me sick. I would never take any of that treatment but I realized some people don’t have a choice and they need that job to support their families and make ends meet. I wish this video could reach alot more people so the truth will be out in the open and there could be justice for all those people who have been treated so unfairly.

I agree with everyone’s opinion so far with both the electric car and the subject of Wal-Mart. The electric car could have made a dramatic difference in the United States today. However there was a dispute about oil and money. Besides that GM had no reason to destroy them and take them off the streets, this car was fast and attractive. The cars single disadvantage was that it needed to be recharged every 60 to 80 miles. With progress this automobile could have been perfect.
When i watched the Wal-Mart video i was disgusted. I never thought Wal-Mart would be behind such a thing. Not only do they under pay their workers and treat them with disrespect, but they are also bad for the environment. Since iv watched that documentary I have not shopped in Wal-Mart and I have discouraged everyone else from doing so. I believe that more people should be aware of this scam. If this story was put on the news and the truth came out, Wal-Mart might change because they would lose all of their customers.

I have to agree that the electric car was probably the greatest idea ever know to helping our environment and the community. It would help the environment’s surroundings, instead of having gas and oil in the air, it would just be electric. From my understandings, electric would not harm as much to us as oil and gas would. The air has enough chemicals and pollution as it is, and the electric car would prevent that a lot more. The community and society would be so much happier. It would cost less for everyone and that’s a great thing. It saves time also, instead of going to the gas station, you can just plug in the electric car at your very own home. Standing outside pumping gas in your car, especially in the winter where its so cold, can be a pain most of the time. I know for me it is. But with the electric car, you can charge it right at home for only 10 minutes. It would last you for a good amount to drive on. I think the U.S. made a huge mistake and look back on this and do something about it.
Wal-Mart was a shocking reveal about them that I just cannot get over. I really hate the chairman guy all he cares about is himself and a good company shouldn’t care about themselves it should care about their people. It killed me the most how they had Japanese people work in sweatshops and only get paid little of money. The money they earn doesn’t even afford food to provide them with. At least give them credit for helping us. Ever since watching this movie, I thought it over and said I’m never shopping at Wal-Mart ever. They are not worth one cent of me.

I agree with everyone else. Why would you take such a smart, creative invention such as the electric car away? Last time I checked our country is all about making life easier and easier. What can’t get any easier then charging your own car at home? NOTHING! I understand the fact about oil and gas companies will lose there money and people losing their jobs but not everyone is for the electric car. Therese plenty of people who are stubborn or just hate high tech stuff. I don’t understand why they couldn’t just have both and let the people have what they want. Maybe even have chargers at gas stations. That way everyone was happy.
It’s kind of hard for me to hate such a place like Wal-Mart. Im not going to lie but I shop there and still do so after watching the video. I definitely don’t support on what there doing to there workers and how they treat them but I really can find everything I need all in one place. Sure I could go Rite aid or Target but it’s cheaper and so much more convenient. Im not going to sit here bad mouthing Wal-mart ill look like a total hypocrite. I really do hope for the best for the people who work there. If they really want it they can make a change and a difference. Just takes allot of time and strategy.

When the electric car was first produced by the car company the demand for it was high but they did not allow you to purchase it, you were only given the permission to lease it. I hate the fact that if the government would not have sided with big oil we could be well on our way to using the electric car across the United States. I think if we would have had the electric car mass produced for the whole United States the economy would not be in such a horrible position as it is in now. If the government had not stepped in we as a nation may have increased our economical gains by being able to export the electric car to other countries like Europe instead of importing gas. This would increase our economical gain instead of decreasing the financial future of the United States.
The only way to stop Wal-Mart is to get the government directly involved by having a nation wide campaign for the workers by the costumers. Also we need small towns that have a Wal-Mart there to all come together and do a nation wide boy-cot of buying Wal-Mart’s products. The nation can not go back to buying their products until there is union for the workers because without one the conditions and the employees being over worked will not stop. Also without letting the employees unionize Wal-Mart is denying them their constitutional rights.

I completely agree with everyone with what they are saying about the electric car. I mean it was such a great invention that everyone could really benefit from. For some reason though this great invention was taken away. The electric car was beneficial to everyone including the environment, but not people choose to use gasoline which pollutes our world. If we are so for saving the environment then why don’t we go back to using the electric car? People are just more about money these days and are selfish. Yeah the electric car might not bring in as much money but it can save our future, our environment, but the oil companies want money so the electric car had to go.
I have to say I do still shop at Walmart but not as frequently as before I saw the video about Walmart’s poor treatment of their workers. now I think of other places I could go to get what I need but Walmart is cheaper so many people including me tend to go to Walmart. It is completely wrong what they are doing to their workers and hopefully it changes eventually. If more people know what is going on then maybe more will be done to stop the ill treatment of the Walmart employees.

I agree with having the electric car. I agree with it because it will bring less pollution and it will help the economy out. I no the car is more expensive then a regular car but I am absolutely sure that in the long run it will pay off to keep these cars around. Plus eventually the world will run out of oil. Even when the oil starts to get low the gas prices will sky rocket through the roof. We will never run out of sun light which means that we will always have solar power. People sit there and suck those fumes in everyday that are so harmful to us. Our life expectancy could probably be much longer if we got rid of the gasoline driven cars. I know that it will take a while for the pollution in the air to clear and that there is always gonna be pollution no matter what but if we switch over to the electric cars we can save ourselves. I am one hundred percent for the electric cars even if they are expensive. I only say that because I want to live as long as I can. If we are in war with another country that is supplying us with our oil we are always going to have to pay more. If the united state of America are putting all this money to buy oil and we can have the electric cars we won’t have to pay for the oil. I know this is how our state makes their profit and money. What I don’t understand is how they make people pay for this oil and it is so hard to find a job these days with the economy being this screwed up.
I agree with bree that the Walmart policy is absolutely ridiculous. It is greed and power all there about is making money. I don’t think that they should be laboring people that hard for the money that those people are making. I hate that they do that and I will never shop at walmart again. I think that those people are heroes tho because of their work ethics just to support their families and loved one’s. If people are that arrogant to shop their after they see that movie I think they should be kicked out of the united states because I think that is ridiculous how they labor those people just to make a quick buck.

When I watched the documentary on walmart I was in shock. Walmart was always the one store my family went to on a daily basis up until I watched the video. After seeing what they put their employees through I will never shop there again. It’s not fair what they make them go through. I don’t think most people know how Walmart really is. It’s horrible how they don’t even give their employees full time jobs just because they don’t want to give them health benefits. If more people knew how Walmart really was I think they would get a lot less business.
If the electric car stuck around the environment would be so much better. The air wouldn’t be so polluted and dirty as it is now. I wish that the makers of the electric car wern’t pressured by oil companies to kill it because it would help the environment a lot and we wouldn’t have to pay for gas. It would all around just make everything a lot easier. I do think that one day the electric car will be brought back.

I have to say I also agree with all of my classmates with the issue on the big businesses and the electric car. The issue with the electric car makes a lot of sense I think because all of the toxins that are produced from the car are very harmful to the environment. If all of the cars in the world were electric then we wouldn’t be having problems with the environment right now because the electric cars only run off a little amount of gas. These electric cars only produce about a quarter of the toxins which a regular gas fueled car would which is very helpful in helping out the environment. The other issue concerning Wal-Mart and the cheap costs of their goods due to the minimum amount of pay and all of the benefits they lack I have to say I also agree with all of my classmates on that issue. It may seem like Wal-Mart’s goods are a lot cheaper than all of the other competition but this is because the goods they make are being made by foreign people which are getting underpaid and over worked. Also the domestic workers are getting overworked and underpaid because they lack the benefits any other normal job would provide. Wal-Mart’s managers and supervisors tell their workers to go on welfare to get benefits and other stuff, so all of this money you are paying for taxes is going to Wal-Mart workers and that is why they can afford to sell their goods so cheap. This is why I agree with my fellow classmates.
